Operatives from the Ondo State Police Command have arrested members of a suspected car theft syndicate operating across Ondo and neighboring states.

In an operation carried out by the Tactical Intelligence Squad (TIS), four suspects were apprehended, and three stolen vehicles were recovered. One of the arrested suspects, Afolabi Emmanuel, reportedly stole a 2016 Toyota Camry from Amokun Victor’s residence in Oka-Akoko.

The state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Wilfred Afolabi, revealed that the stolen vehicle, valued at over N12 million, was sold to an accomplice in Ogori-Magongo, Kogi State, for just N700,000.

Afolabi explained, “The suspect confessed to scaling the victim’s compound fence, breaking into the apartment, taking valuables, and ultimately driving off with the vehicle. Further investigation led to the recovery of two other vehicles, including a Toyota Sienna worth N6 million, which had been sold for N4 million.”

The police commissioner also shared that the gang was behind multiple vehicle thefts in the region. He disclosed that the ringleader, based in Lagos, frequently visited Akungba-Akoko, where his father resides, to scout for potential targets before carrying out the thefts.

He said, “During these visits, he would identify potential targets before launching the theft operations. These suspects have been a menace, instilling fear in residents and dispossessing them of their hard-earned belongings. Their arrest is a significant blow to the network of criminals operating across state lines.”

Reaffirming the command’s commitment to ensuring safety in the state, Afolabi added, “Our goal is to ensure that citizens can sleep soundly at night without fear.”

Joseph Aloba, the father of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, has disclosed that he spent a total of N16 million to carry out an autopsy on his son, whose death in 2023 continues to raise questions among fans and the public.

Mohbad’s sudden passing shocked many, with speculations of foul play dominating conversations both online and offline. In response to the growing demand for answers, an autopsy was conducted.
