PDP Suspends Spokesman,Legal Adviser Amid Ongoing Internal Conflict

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, and National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade, SAN.

This move marks a new chapter in the party’s ongoing internal strife that has been brewing since 2023.

The decision, announced by the PDP National Director of Publicity, Chinwe Nnorom, follows a NWC meeting held on October 10, 2024.

The committee is tasked with investigating the allegations against the suspended officials, particularly their calls for adherence to the party’s constitution under Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum.

Nnorom’s statement noted, “The NWC has directed the National Publicity Secretary and National Legal Adviser to step aside

A committee, chaired by Deputy National Chairman (South) Taofeek Arapaja, has been constituted to address the issues raised against them in compliance with the party’s Constitution.”

In the interim, the NWC appointed Ibrahim Abdullahi Manga and Okechukwu Osuoha as Acting National Publicity Secretary and Acting National Legal Adviser, respectively, effective October 11, 2024.

The NWC urged all party members to remain focused as it navigates this crisis, underscoring the importance of unity for the PDP’s future.

The fallout from this suspension is likely to further complicate the party’s already tumultuous landscape as it approaches crucial political challenges ahead.
