
The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the death of two suspected kidnappers during a shootout along the Tungargiwa–Saminaka road.
Police spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, said the clash occurred on Sunday after operatives received intelligence about a gang preparing to ambush travelers. A joint security team launched an operation in the forest, where the suspects were confronted in a gun duel. Two were killed, while others escaped with gunshot injuries.

Recovered from the scene were an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and live rounds of ammunition.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, praised the operatives for their swift action and noted that ongoing patrols in Shanga Local Government Area and surrounding communities have been instrumental in reducing crime.
He also urged residents to remain alert and share credible information with security agencies, assuring that the command is fully committed to safeguarding lives and property in Kebbi State.
The Osun State Police Command has begun investigating the sudden death of a young woman, Bidemi Omole, who reportedly passed away shortly after arriving at her boyfriend’s residence in Esa-Oke.
Community sources revealed that Bidemi visited her boyfriend, identified as Yinka, on Friday evening but suddenly became ill. Eyewitnesses said the incident happened around 9:30 pm in the Oke Esa area of the town.
