Rare Downpour Transforms Sahara Desert Into Vibrant Blue Lagoons

A remarkable deluge has brought life to the arid Sahara Desert, with southeastern Morocco’s driest regions receiving more rain in two days than they typically see in decades.

The unexpected storm has created breathtaking blue oases amidst palm trees and sand dunes.

According to the Moroccan government, the late-summer rainfall exceeded annual averages in multiple areas, including Tata, one of the hardest-hit regions.

Tagounite village, 280 miles south of Rabat, recorded over 100mm of rain in just 24 hours.
