The Nigerian Senate on Wednesday swiftly passed both the first and second readings of a bill to establish the Federal University of Agriculture and Tropical Studies in Iragbiji, Osun State.

Sponsored by Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele (APC – Ekiti Central), the bill is designed to enhance agricultural education and advance tropical studies in Nigeria.

During the session, Senator Bamidele highlighted the institution’s potential impact on national agricultural development.

He was supported by Senator Olarere Oyewunmi, who emphasized the significance of the bill for improving agricultural practices and education.

Key senators, including Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and Senator Solomon Adeola, expressed their backing, showcasing broad support for the initiative.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, conducted a voice vote that resulted in overwhelming approval for the bill’s rapid advancement.
