Six Dead, Three Missing in Sokoto Boat Mishap While Fleeing Bandits

At least six people have died and three others remain missing following a boat accident in Garin Faji, Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The victims were among several residents who attempted to escape a bandit attack using boats when one of the vessels capsized, resulting in multiple casualties.

The Sokoto State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) confirmed the tragedy. According to a senior official, 19 passengers were rescued from the river, while search and rescue operations are still ongoing to find those unaccounted for.

This latest incident comes less than a week after a similar tragedy in Goronyo Local Government Area, where four people lost their lives in another boat accident during a bandit raid.
