Former Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, has expressed disappointment and concern over the recent defections of members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking to journalists shortly after the Northwest Zonal meeting of the PDP held at Hotel 17, Kaduna, on Saturday, Tambuwal attributed the defections to “stomach infrastructure” rather than the interest of the people.

“People leave parties for certain reasons or for different reasons, but what I have been observing in the past are defections not based on the interest of the people but based on stomach infrastructure,” Tambuwal said.

He added, “If you are talking about defecting in the interest of the people, I believe no one can go to the APC.”

Tambuwal questioned the motivation behind the defections, stating that no politician with a conscience would join the APC given its current policies and the economic hardship faced by Nigerians.

The PDP has reiterated its commitment to providing leadership and moving the country forward, vowing to oust the APC from power in Nigeria.

Nigeria Must Restructure To Survive – Tambuwal

Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto has re-echoed call for restructuring of Nigeria.

The former speaker of the House of Representatives who spoke on Tuesday at an event organised for the newly elected officers of the party in Abuja, said restructuring is necessary for the country to overcome its current challenges.
