The leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities has issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to resolve several lingering issues.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the president of the union, Emmanuel Osodeke said ASUU seeks a conclusion to the renegotiation of the 2009 agreement it had with the FG.

Osodeke also said that ASUU among other things is seeking the release of withheld salaries due to the strike action its members embarked on in 2022.
He further warns that the union should not for any reason be held accountable for any industrial disharmony that arises from the government’s failure to seize the new opportunity offered to it.

The president of ASUU also listed a litany of other expectations of the union from the Federal government including the implementation of the 2021 agreement, a demand for the release of unpaid salaries for staff on sabbatical, part-time, and adjunct appointments affected by the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System among others.
