A heated session unfolded on Monday, September 30, during the House of Representatives joint committee’s probe into bribery allegations involving officials from the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Martins Vincent Otse, known as Verydarkman (VDM), expressed his frustration over the absence of Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, who was also summoned to appear.
Dressed in a flowing traditional attire and accompanied by his lawyer Deji Adeyanju, VDM refused to proceed with his testimony, stating, “Today I will not say anything because an invitation was given out to me and Bobrisky, but he is not here.”

While officials from the EFCC and NCoS were present, including Michael Nzekwe, chief of staff to EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyode, VDM’s insistence on Bobrisky’s attendance caused tensions to rise.

Some lawmakers suggested that VDM should be arrested for refusing to speak, citing his oath.
VDM stood firm, declaring, “If I say anything, let me die,” reiterating that he would not provide any testimony until Bobrisky arrived.
His lawyer supported this stance, stating they had gathered substantial evidence that could only be presented in Bobrisky’s presence.
