
Residents of Ikakumo, a community in Akoko Northeast Local Government Area of Ondo State, are living in fear following the death of a herdsman during a violent confrontation with members of a local vigilance group.
The incident, which also left two people injured—including the commander of the vigilante group—has raised concerns among locals about possible retaliatory attacks by herders in the area.
According to community sources, the clash erupted when a member of the vigilance group confronted a herdsman believed to have been involved in the kidnapping of a man identified as Balogun in the Edo State section of the Ikakumo area last month.

The situation quickly escalated into a fight, during which one of the herdsmen was fatally stabbed.
The injured victims were taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Owo for treatment.
Confirming the development, Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, stated that an investigation into the incident has begun.
The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended a hotel manager, Remilekun Ajilola, 41, along with Musa Shaibu, 25, in connection with the abduction of a 14-year-old boy, Hassan, in the Olodi-Apapa area of the state.
According to police reports, Hassan was kidnapped on May 1, and his abductors demanded a ransom of N20,000 from his family.
