Gambaryan, who has been detained for 232 days on money laundering charges alongside Binance, has reportedly fallen “very sick” according to officials, preventing his appearance at the hearing.
The court was expected to continue the cross-examination of the prosecution’s second witness in the high-profile case.
However, confusion ensued when officials initially could not account for Gambaryan’s whereabouts, raising alarm among the defence team.
Gambaryan’s health has been a critical issue since he collapsed in court in May, suffering from repeated bouts of malaria, pneumonia, and exacerbation of a pre-existing herniated disk condition.
His deteriorating condition has left him largely bedridden and dependent on a wheelchair.
Despite the serious health concerns, Gambaryan’s second request for bail was previously denied by the court.
The next trial date has been set for October 25, with the court now focused on ensuring the Binance executive receives adequate medical care.
