The fatal crash sparked outrage in the community, prompting a protest by angry villagers. The protest led to road blockages, halting vehicular movement for hours.

Confirming the incident, spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, said normalcy had since been restored.

“A tragic accident occurred at Sowo Village, claiming four lives, including schoolchildren. The road was blocked, and police were called to the scene,” Akinbiyi said.

He added, “Thanks to the efforts of TRACE officials, the police, and the Nigerian Army, the road has been reopened and traffic is gradually easing.”

A heartbreaking incident occurred on Wednesday in Jinkiri Village, located in Tirwun, a suburb of Bauchi metropolis, where three teenage boys drowned while swimming in a river.

The tragedy bears resemblance to a previous incident in May, where four workers from the Gubi Water Treatment Plant lost their lives during a maintenance operation.
