Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 3 Division and Operation Safe Haven have apprehended two suspected arms dealers, Yahaya Adamu and Saeedu Haruna, in Plateau State’s Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.

The arrests, which occurred between May 10 and 11, 2025, were part of an intelligence-led operation that resulted in the seizure of an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and an ITEL mobile phone.

According to a statement released on Sunday by Operation Safe Haven’s spokesperson, Samson Zhakom, the operation was launched following credible intelligence that linked the duo and their criminal network to multiple violent incidents across Plateau and neighboring Kaduna State.

Adamu was initially arrested on May 10 in the Barakin Gangare area of Barkin Ladi. His arrest led security personnel to Haruna, who was subsequently captured, and the firearm recovered.

Both suspects are currently in custody and reportedly cooperating with ongoing investigations. Security agencies are continuing efforts to track down other members of the syndicate.

The military praised the public for their assistance and urged continued support through the provision of reliable intelligence to help curb criminal activity and enhance security in the region.

Troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation Hadin Kai have recorded a significant breakthrough in the ongoing counter-insurgency campaign, neutralizing five Boko Haram terrorists during a clearance operation in the Ladin Buttu area of Sambisa Forest.

The operation, which was carried out during a recent patrol mission, is part of a broader offensive aimed at dismantling remaining insurgent strongholds.
