Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has confirmed that deadline day signing Christantus Uche is in contention to make his Premier League debut when the Eagles face Sunderland at Selhurst Park on Saturday, September 13.

Glasner revealed that Uche, along with the club’s other new signings, will be named in the matchday squad.

The versatile midfielder joined Palace on loan from La Liga side Getafe on deadline day, in a deal that includes an obligation to buy next summer.

Shortly after signing, he departed for international duty in Africa, where he made his competitive debut for the Super Eagles, coming off the bench to replace the injured Wilfred Ndidi in Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier against South Africa in Bloemfontein.

“We have 18 fit on-field players – and all the new signings will be in the squad tomorrow,” Glasner told reporters, as relayed by Palace’s official website.

For Uche, the clash against Sunderland could mark a swift introduction to English football.

The 22-year-old arrives in south London fully match fit, having featured extensively for Getafe earlier this season.

On Thursday, he trained with his new Crystal Palace teammates for around 40 minutes at the club’s training ground ahead of a possible home debut.

Uche is widely regarded as one of the brightest young talents to emerge from La Liga in recent seasons, having contributed 12 goal involvements (five goals and seven assists) in 36 appearances for Getafe
