Former NLC Chairman passes away at police checkpoint during a dispute with police officers in Edo State
Kaduna Eboigbodin, a former chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Edo State, has passed away under tr+gic circumstances.

Eboigbodin reportedly died on Monday following a confrontation with police officers at a checkpoint on Upper Sakponba Road in Benin City, the Edo State capital.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Moses Yamu, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Edo State, confirmed the incident and announced that an investigation had been launched to determine the events leading to Eboigbodin’s d+ath.
“The Edo State Command of the Nigeria Police has received with great concern the news of the d+ath of Comrade Kaduna Eboigbodin, former Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Edo State, allegedly due to police unprofessional conduct,” the statement read.
Commissioner of Police Umoru P. Ozigi expressed his condolences to the deceased’s family, friends, and associates, offering prayers for his soul’s repose.
The statement also highlighted the collaborative relationship between the police and various stakeholders in Edo State, including the NLC and civil society organizations, and assured the public of a thorough investigation into the incident.
“The command remains committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice prevails in every situation,” the police spokesperson added.
