Men of the Edo state police command have confirmed the arrest and detainment of a young girl accused of murder.

Daily Report Nigeria recalls that a group of young people, five in number were found lifeless in an apartment in Afashio community in the Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.

Further reports revealed that the group of friends had consumed a lot of pepper soup prepared by a 16-year-old girl, Aisha Suleiman, who happens to be an ex-girlfriend to one of them.

It was gathered the father of Aisha’s ex-boyfriend, Emmanuel, Mr Elogie Ezekiel reported the matter to the police on October 26, 2024 after arriving in his son’s apartment and finding lifeless bodies in the house.

He found Emmanuel, 19, and his girlfriend, identified as Ada Samuel, also 16, lying lifeless on the bedroom bed.

Two other friends of Emmanuel’s, Samuel and Jeffrey Ayegwalo, both siblings, were found unresponsive in the sitting room.

All five were immediately transported to the hospital, where doctors pronounced them dead on arrival.

I’m recent news, the  police swung into action after receiving a report of a girl about to be lynched to death by an angry mob in the community.

Confirming the incident, the police PRO, SP Moses Yamu, while speaking to the press of Friday said police officers from the Jattu Division were quickly mobilised to the scene, intervened, and transported Suleiman safely to the station.

“The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a thorough investigation,” Yamu added.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Umoru Ozigi, has ordered a detailed investigation, instructing officers to pursue every possible lead to determine the true cause of death in the case.
