The governor of Rivers State, Siminialayi Fubara, has vowed to defend justice in the state even if it means using his last breath to do so.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Fubara said this on Thursday during the opening of the 2024/2025 Legal Year and Re-Dedication Service at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul’s, Anglican Communion in Port Harcourt.

According to the governor, the members of the judiciary have been deliberately working with influential people, especially, top politicians to weaken the judiciary system.

He warned that when institutions were deliberately weakened by those who ought to guide them, the entire society and the people suffer.

He also warned that there are repercussions to actions taken by public officers saddled with the responsibility to protect sacred institutions like the judiciary.

Fubara said, “If I am a businessman, and I am coming into Nigeria to invest, why will I invest when what I am seeing today is that institutions are weak and individuals are stronger than institutions?

“This state belongs to all of us. It is not about Fubara today. If this institution is destroyed, when another person comes in tomorrow, it is the same thing that will happen

“We need to stand and defend it, and you are the right people to do it. I am here today to assure you that even if I have my last breath, I will defend the cause of justice in this State,” he said.
