Fenerbahçe icon Ümit Özat has warned that Victor Osimhen’s record €75 million move to Galatasaray may stretch Turkish football’s finances beyond their limits.

While he admits Osimhen is “worth every euro,” Özat added that splashing such a huge amount, plus a reported €15 million annual earnings, €1 million loyalty bonus and €5 million in image rights could destabilize Gala’s budgets and encourage unsustainable spending.

Özat told SkySpor’s YouTube channel:
“Can you say that signing Osimhen was a bad thing? However, the cost is far above the national economy,”
“Osimhen is a valuable, high-quality, and great player, but for our clubs, these amounts are a lot of money. I don’t envy the transfer. These amounts of money shouldn’t be given lightly.” – he concluded.
Despite these concerns, the 26-year-old Nigerian striker is already in pre-season training with Galatasaray, eager to justify the investment on the pitch ahead of the 2025–26 season.
