Popular Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi has fled Nigeria after reportedly surviving an assassination attempt.

The actor shared this news following his noticeable absence at the Coroner’s inquest into the death of late singer Mohbad and his failure to lead a protest at the Lagos State Assembly, which was scheduled for Monday, September 30, 2024.

Fabiyi had initially planned to stage the protest to coincide with the reopening of the coroner’s investigation into Mohbad’s tragic death. However, the actor later revealed that his life was in danger, citing a recent attempt on his life just two days prior.

In a now widely circulated video on his Instagram page, Yomi Fabiyi, who is currently in hiding, claimed there was a plot to end his life due to his involvement in advocating for justice in Mohbad’s case.

He expressed his shock at the situation, stating, “I escaped assassination two days ago, and they still plan to kill me tonight. If they had succeeded, I would have been buried tomorrow.”

Yomi Fabiyi went on to explain that he believed the threats were tied to his activism, saying,

“They want to waste me all because I’m fighting for justice. I didn’t take money from anyone; I’m doing this for God.” The actor added that he had to leave Nigeria unexpectedly to ensure his safety. “I had to run for my life. I just left Nigeria unplanned, and at this point, I don’t even know my destination,” he explained.

The situation has sparked concern among Fabiyi’s supporters, while his claims of an assassination plot continue to generate widespread discussion on social media.
