Yeray Álvarez faces suspension after testing positive from a hair-loss treatment.

“I have taken alopecia medication for years,” – Álvarez said.

“We later discovered it contained a prohibited substance. I never intended to break the rules.”

Álvarez found out about the positive result just a few weeks ago and described it as “a very tough blow.”

Authorities are investigating, and the suspension prevents him from playing or speaking out.

Before the ban kicked in, he appeared in the second leg and two late-season La Liga matches.

Athletic Bilbao calls it a “human error” and vows to stand by him.

UEFA has remained silent so far. This challenge adds to the obstacles Álvarez has already surmounted, and supporters are now waiting on the final verdict.
