Fayose Cleared of Money Laundering Charges as Court Dismisses EFCC Case

2 days ago 6

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Tuesday discharged and acquitted former Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, of all charges in his protracted money laundering trial instituted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The court upheld Fayose’s no-case submission, ruling that the anti-graft agency failed to establish a prima facie case against him to warrant opening a defence.

Fayose was facing trial over allegations bordering on money laundering and fraud during his tenure as Ekiti governor.

In his reaction, Fayose welcomed the verdict as vindication of his innocence, while the EFCC has yet to issue a formal statement on the ruling.
