Gunmen Abduct Local Government Official in Kaduna

Armed men have kidnapped Devid Ali Gwantu, the serving councilor of Gwantu Ward in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The development was reported on Friday via X by Bakatsine, a journalist covering conflict and insecurity in northwest Nigeria.

According to Bakatsine, the abduction occurred early Friday morning. He wrote: “Armed men have kidnapped Hon. Devid Ali Gwantu, serving councilor of Gwantu Ward in Sanga LGA, Kaduna State.

“Gunmen stormed his home early Friday morning, whisking him away in front of his family. His whereabouts remain unknown.”

The incident comes amid a rising spate of kidnappings affecting citizens in Kaduna and other northern states. Security agencies have yet to release an official statement on the case.

Emeka Ugwuonye, the former lawyer of Nollywood actress May Edochie, has continued his public feud with the actress, sharing a lengthy post on Facebook in which he accused her of telling 14 lies throughout her marriage to actor Yul Edochie.

Ugwuonye claimed that Yul only married May after she became pregnant at 22, while he was also 22.
