50% of Pharmaceutical Products Imported Into Nigeria Fake - NAFDAC

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued an urgent recall of Nivea Black & White Invisible Roll-on deodorant, 50ml, due to serious health concerns.

This action follows a notification from the European Union Rapid Alert System regarding the product’s potential risks.

In a statement released on Thursday, NAFDAC identified the affected batch, number 93529610, and highlighted that the deodorant contains 2-(4-tert-Butylbenzyl) propionaldehyde, a chemical banned in cosmetic products.

“This substance poses significant health risks, including potential reproductive harm, adverse effects on unborn children, and skin irritation,” the agency warned.
