- He shared updates from Ghana, calling it a new chapter in his journey to give a voice to the forgotten
Nigerian adventurer Emmanuel Myam, popularly known as Emmiwuks, has arrived in Ghana as part of his daring solo bicycle journey from Lagos to the United States. The 25-year-old, who began his cross-continental ride on July 1, has already cycled through Benin Republic and Togo, reaching Ghana in just 10 days.
A native of Benue State, Emmiwuks first gained attention in 2022 when he cycled from Makurdi to Lagos in a bid to meet Afrobeats superstar Davido. Now, he is undertaking an even more ambitious journey, inspired by personal hardship and a brush with death in 2023.

He revealed that the mission is not just about pushing physical limits, but also about raising awareness and support for orphaned and displaced children across the African continent.
On Wednesday, Emmiwuks shared photos from Ghana via Instagram, expressing joy over the milestone and reaffirming his commitment to the cause.
“Day 10, Project NIG2USA. Welcome to Ghana. The land of warmth, rhythm, and strength,” he wrote.
“A new country, a new chapter, same mission, raising a voice for the displaced and the forgotten across Africa.”
“Ghana, let’s ride this journey together. From Nigeria to the world, the movement is alive. Naija no dey carry last.”
Earlier during his stop in the Benin Republic, Emmiwuks visited an orphanage where he made a charitable donation from funds contributed by his supporters. The experience left a strong emotional impression on him.
“Today, I visited an orphanage here in Benin with my little support and it touched me deeply,” he wrote.
“Seeing those children reminded me of the displaced people in my dear country and across Africa, suffering in silence because of insecurity.”
“This journey isn’t just about cycling, it’s about giving them a voice. Every ride, every mile, is for them. But I can’t do it alone.”
“Lend your voice. Share the story. Let’s ride this together. Stay strong kids, I will be back for you soon.”
The Reality of Cycling from Nigeria to the United States
While Emmiwuks’ journey has captured hearts, the idea of biking all the way to the United States presents enormous challenges. The estimated distance between Nigeria and the US is over 8,500 kilometers (5,300 miles) — with no direct land connection due to the Atlantic Ocean.
To complete such a feat, he would need to:
• Cycle through multiple African countries.
• Ship his bicycle and possibly himself across the Atlantic, perhaps to South America.
• Continue his ride north through Central America and Mexico, before entering the United States.
Other Challenges:
• Visa requirements and border security checks across several nations.
• Safety risks, including harsh terrain, political instability, and inadequate road infrastructure.
• Ocean crossing logistics, which would require sponsorship or cargo arrangements.
Despite the enormous hurdles ahead, Emmiwuks remains focused on his mission — giving a voice to Africa’s displaced children and proving that determination can inspire global action.
