Man Arrested For Allegedly Stabbing Newly Wedded Wife To Death In Lagos

  • The Lagos state police command have arrested a man for allegedly gruesomely killing his wife.

A man has been arrested by operatives of the Nigerian police force for allegedly killing his newly wedded wife.

The accused, identified as Motunrayo Olaniyi, 30 was said to have committed the act of stabbing his 25-year-old wife multiple times after an argument at Amazing Grace Estate, Elepe in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State on Friday, October 4.

Confirming the arrest in a statement released, the spokesperson of the command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin said the suspect reportedly locked the victim in her room after stabbing her, then proceeded to set it on fire.

Hundeyin expressed concerns, as he said the suspect went on to inflict wounds on himself after committing the act.

The statement in part reads;

“A distress call was received on October 4 at Ikorodu Division that a newly wedded couple, one Motunrayo Olaniyi, aged 30, and his wife Olajumoke, aged 25 years, allegedly engaged in a domestic scuffle in their room at Amazing Grace Estate, Elepe, Ikorodu.

In the process, the husband reportedly st@bbed the wife to d£ath, locked her in the room, and set it ablaze, while he inflicted w@unds on himself.

Police from the Ikorodu Division responded to a distress call and put out the fire. They found Olajumoke’s lifeless body with abdominal wounds.”

The PRO added that Olaniyi was rushed to an hospital where he received treatment and was later arrested and taken to the police station for further investigation.

He went on to state that the corpse had been deposited at Ikorodu General Hospital morgue for autopsy. More investigation is in progress.
